Baby & 2 women killed
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Five people were shot, three are dead -- including an infant less than a year old-- after a shooting at a food mart in the Moncrief area Sunday night, police say.
Four people were shot inside a car -- one man, two women and an infant -- on Cleveland Road off Moncrief.
Kadejah Williams, 22, died in the car before anyone could be taken to a hospital. The other three were taken to a local hospital, where the infant, Tedashii Williams, 11 months, and Xacia Burnem, 18, died a short time later, says Director of Investigations and Homeland Security for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Ron Lendvay. Quadrae Johnson, 23, has injuries listed as minor, according to a police report.
Another woman, Teresa Grayer, 41, arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound from the same shooting, Lendvay says.
The shooting happened at 6:07 p.m. and could be related to an earlier dispute between two women, but police are still investigating and can't say for sure. All five victims were shot by a handgun, Lendvay says.
"It's a sad day for Jacksonville," Lendvay says of the shooting, "It's a sad day for this area and for the officers working this scene."
Detectives and officers are on scene, looking for and interviewing witnesses, canvassing the neighborhood and processing evidence.
